Sometimes I make hip hop beats. Sometimes Ivan Ives spits over them. This is one of those times. It's a track full of big strings, big brass, a bassoon, an oboe, some drums and a cowbell that goes donk.
I think my track kinda sticks out as the odd man out if you listen to the whole album, but hey, that could just be me being overly self-conscious about it. Regardless, as a whole, Stranger is quite a good album and definitely worth a listen! So, check it out:
You can preview and purchase Stranger from the Ivan Ives Official Site, iTunes or Amazon, and you can find more Ivan Ives over on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.
Watch out, I'm going to pretty you to death, piano style. This is an uplifting track with a whole lot of stuff going on. It starts off with a piano and some slow swelling strings, building up into a big beat with a bunch of chops and stutters. After this it drops you into a wall of sound with big guitars, more strings, and an e.piano.
There's also a violin doing it's soloing thing and then a new synth and an 808 and...okay, how about you just listen to it?

Do you remember the game Quake? It was a first person shooter released in the mid 90's by iD Software. It was really something special and had me hooked immediately, especially the all of the multiplayer mods that people were making. I still occasionally listen to the music from Quake, which was done by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, with the theme song being the real standout of the bunch.
So, I've done a remix - or more accurately a cover - of the theme song to Quake. I wanted it to start out sounding very similar and then break out into some fresh guitar riffs and new melodies. Big drums, big guitars, big booms abound. It's a whole lot of stuff going on, packing quite a punch.

Vocals vocals vocals. This one is a whole lot of vocals. It's also pop. Upbeat pop...but kind of relaxing too, if you can dig it. It's also about secrets. How mysterious.
The synths drive, the drums snap, the bass grumbles and the effects swoosh all around. There are also a few string and guitar bits thrown in for good measure. Oh and this is the largest vocal stack I've ever done, so yay for that.

Well, here's a style of drum track I don't do often. It's dancetastic. It's danceable. It's also rock. Like, Electro Rock shoo-bop shoo-bop. There's also a marching band in there...and African percussion...and stuff.
It's got synths too. Lots of synths. Ones that sound like bees and stuff. Oh and guitars, for the rock stuff. You know what, you should just listen to it.
