First Harpejji Track: At Last...

18. May 2010 14:08 by Hamst3r in Tracks

So yeah, you know that Harpejji I got last Tuesday?

Check it out: My Harpejji Arrived Today

Yeah, that thing.

Well, at last…I can play an instrument. Woo! I’m no virtuoso yet, but it’s the furthest I’ve advanced with any instrument. I’ve had a guitar since high school and simply cannot contort my fingers to produce a decent sound from it. I’ve also had numerous keyboards and access to pianos and have never managed to get very good with them either. I mean, I can play a few chords, but beyond that; forget about it.

I’m pretty excited about this.

Anyways, here’s my first attempt at making something with the Harpejji. It’s everything except the drums.

New Track: Turboprop

15. May 2010 14:16 by Hamst3r in Tracks

Turboprop! Yeah, more airplane terms, because this is for Biplanes HD, dawg. You know, planes.

Anyways, upbeat chiptune rock is the flavor of the day, though this one gets a bit heavier around the middle. A bit more evil there too.

My Harpejji arrived today!

12. May 2010 14:36 by Hamst3r in Tracks

Back in October 2009 I ordered this…thing. It’s a plank of wood with strings on it and it makes noise, kind of like them geetars the kids are into. It’s a 24-string tapping instrument. It’s tuned to a whole tone scale (C, D, E, F#, G#, A#). It also has some interesting tech built into it. The bass and melody strings go through separate built-in pre-amps. When you lift your finger off a string it stops immediately thanks to the per-string mute system. Also, it sustains forever, which is weird.

Anyways, a few months into the build they offered to upgrade it from the D1 to the new K24 model they were working on, but that it would add a few extra months to the build. Decline a free upgrade? Hell no! So now, nearly seven months later, it has finally arrived. Yay!

New Track: Half Past

29. April 2010 14:49 by Hamst3r in Tracks

I like jazz, a lot and this is an attempt at a particular style of jazz. It’s got a vibraphone, a trumpet, two guitars, an upright bass and some drums. I didn’t add any big beats or synths to this one. I also didn’t crush the shit out of the mix.

So yeah, it’s chillaxed and it’s jazzy and I’m happy with it, particularly the trumpet.

New Track: Hollywood

1. April 2010 14:52 by Hamst3r in Tracks

Some music for driving through Hollywood at night. If you’re not in Hollywood, just pretend you’re surrounded by palm trees, bright lights and trash; and everything is moving in slow-motion.

This track is a Chillout track with some ideas pulled from Dubstep and more ambient styles of music. There’s a lot of bass in this track and and a lot of granular fuckery on the drums.
