Remix: Water World from Duke Nukem 3D

29. May 2013 15:17 by Hamst3r in Tracks

Bobby Prince. Maybe you've heard of him. He did the music for DOOM. He also did some of the music for Duke Nukem 3D. This is my take on one of his tracks.

So, what we've got here is some chillout ambience, everything awash in reverb, blips and bleeps, a solid beat with fast-paced fills and a fat sub bass. I more-or-less continued from where I left off with the Reveal remix.

This track was also my way of testing out Native Instruments Battery 4 for drum sequencing as well as the new NI reverb plugins. :P

New Track: It's Gonna To Be Alright

28. April 2013 09:15 by Hamst3r in Tracks

Doing my best to channel all of the ambient and shoegaze rock I've heard into something hopeful, uplifting and relaxing. Doin' it up with toy pianos and slide guitars. There are also some washed-out vocals mimicking the lead guitar line and delivering a few choice words. Actually, that makes it sound like they're bad words, but they aren't, they're simply simple and sparse.

So it's okay, it's gonna to be alright. Let the music take you away like a soft fluffy pillow of reassurance.

New Track: Cerberus

15. April 2013 04:47 by Hamst3r in Tracks

A mixture of ideas from film score, post-rock and metal. After what I think is the longest build-up I've ever done, the track drops into some metal chugga chugga widdly weeooeoo and continues to build, getting darker and darker in tone before breaking into some orchestral stuff.

This track was written on camera, so there's video of the music writing process right here: THA Studio Session 2.

Track Update: Falling Through The Air

1. April 2013 21:46 by Hamst3r in Tracks

Hey! Haven't done one of these, "look at the music sequencer" videos in a while.

I've also never done a reconstructed interface video like this before, taking a bunch of high res videos and screenshots of a program and stitching them back together in After Effects, so that's a first.

It's for the track, "Falling Through The Air", which you can download here:

New Track! Falling Through The Air!

21. March 2013 02:15 by Hamst3r in Tracks

What's this? What's this?! A new track! Chock full of fast beats, buzzing basses and vocals! I think I'm getting better overall with the vocal stuff, so I'm happy about that.

This track also marks the first time I've loaded up Buzz Tracker in over a year. 99% of this track was done in Reaper, but that one little last percent is a bunch of granular synth nonsense that I absolutely had to do with Buzz. Buzz is still the best for that sort of thing.

Anyway, check it out:

Also, guess what! Here's a teaser for the upcoming game Audiosurf Air featuring this track:
